Fightin' 4 Nichol's Nockers!

The 3Day walk for 2007 is now complete! Once again, it was a moving experience! The weather and the route were the best ever in my opinion! It was fantastic. We met many interesting people and heard many moving stories. Each story was so personal and they inspired you and make you cry at the same time. I mean really, you meet a man in his 70's walking in honor of the "love of his life" who was taken by breast cancer 4 years ago, the young mother who just wants to be alive long enough to rock her grandbabies, the teenage girl who was a wildchild, until her mother got Breast cancer, now she is walking all 12 3Day walks and has gotten her life on track and raised a million bucks, the macho dad who enlisted the "Breasty Boys" to walk with him in honor of his wife who died, The stories go on and on and you never get trhough them without a tissue!

I was horrified at the number of survivors that were under the age of 45.

In addition to being so thankful for my good health, I was also thankful (shocked really) that I did not get a single blister. I had not trained that much this year so I was expecting some whoppers! But, I lucked out! My toenails however, did not fare so well. Again, this year, they
are doing disgusting things. I am sure that they are going to fall off, but nothing that a good coat of pretty pink nailpolish can't conceal.

I am so happy about the 3day that I am going to break my own "rule" of waiting two years to do another one. We are going to form a another team for 2008 and we are going to walk in honor of the many parents and teachers at my childs school that have been diagnosed with breast cancer in the past 2 years. I am not sure what our team name with be, but it will be something to make the kids cringe I am sure.

I cannot thank everyone enough for once again being so generous in their support of the 3day walk - both financially and emotionally. The 2007 walk brought in 6.6 million dollars in donations that will stay right here in WA to help research cures for breast cancer and support programs that reach underserved women. No woman should have to decide between food and a mamogram, when a lump is found. That is insane.

So, I am sure you will be hearing from me again in the Spring of 2008! Be sure to check back as I post the pictures from the event!

Lots of love and gratitude,

Kim
